Backpacking India On Road

Road trip from Kolkata to Varanasi/ Kashi (Kolkata_Varanasi) and back with family by Indian Roadie Arijit Mukherjee (resident of Kolkata) ...  Date of Onwards Journey: 20/12/2021.  Date of Return Journey: 24/12/2021.  Total distance: 14.00 kms (round trip).  Toll paid one way: ₹855. Car: Jeep Compass AT Route during onwards journey: Kolkata - Asansol- Dhanbad - Barhi - Bodh Gaya - Sasaram - Varanasi.  Started early at 05.00 hrs from Kolkata. Morning was pleasant, roads were clear. Took Belgharia Expressway to AH1/ NH19.  Had yummy litti at Dhanbad.  From Dhanbad to Bodhgaya, roads were smooth with some diversions owing to road expansion. At Bheria road condition was bad and had to drive slow.  Reached Varanasi around 19.30 hrs.  Overall ride was smooth and driving was fun.  Dhabas were not very clean but tea served was excellent. Road trip from Kolkata to Kausani, Munsiyari in Uttarakhand and Pilibhit Tiger Reserve in UP and back Ford Endeavour.  The drive was planned on 8th May 2019, we were on the road on 12th May 2019.  Indian Roadie Debashis Mukherjee, his colleague in Navy Harsh Bhargava flew in from Hyderabad to join us in the drive. We all three were 60 plus years of age and grandfathers.  Day 1, 12th May 2019, Kolkata-Varanasi, 690 kms, 13 hrs. We started at 4.30 AM and reached at 5.30 PM. We stayed in Army officers mess. Day 2, 13th May 2019, Varanasi-Bareily, 550 kms. 11 hrs. We started at 6.00 AM and drove via Jaunpur - Machli shahar - Pratapgarh - Raebareli-Lucknow - Hardoi. We stayed in Army Officers Mess. Day 3, 14th May 2019, Bareilly - Kausani, 250 kms. 7 hrs 29 minutes. We stayed at Kausani in KMVN Rest House. This is ideal place to stay with panoramic view of mountain peaks Trishul and Panchchuli. Thanks to the Karnataka government for calling off the weekend curfew which had been imposed immediately after the 3rd wave of Covid swept throughout the state 🙏 It's such a blessing for nature lovers and photographers like myself.  Date of visit - 22nd January, 2022.  Place - Muthanallur Lake, Bangalore.  Distance - From my place in Electronic City in Bangalore, it's 10 kms approx.  Car in use: Hyundai Venue.  Unfortunately, the sunlight direction this morning was not very favorable hence a lot of birds aren't to be seen clearly.  (Copied from the Indian Roadie Facebook Group post dated 2022-01-22 by Indian Roadie Sriram Shankar)  .  .  .  * Bangalore and surroundings  * Only While Travelling By Road In India
