Specially-abled man voluntarily managing traffic run over by bus after coming into the blind spot of a bus in Kolkata on 2024-03-27
A specially-abled man who used to voluntarily manage traffic at the R athtala Crossing on BT Road in Belghoria, Kolkata (viz. the 4 point crossing near Nazrul Mancha, Kamarhati Municipalty office) was killed in a road accident on Wednesday 2024-03-27 evening. The specially-abled man, Priyotosh Sarkar alias Sanjay from Ariadaha used to live with his mother. For the past 30 years, Sarkar has helped the traffic cops in managing traffic at Rathtala voluntarily. As he was specially abled, he couldn't be inducted as a civic volunteer. To help him to run his family, cops used to raise funds for him every month from other police personnel and give the money to Sarkar. Also unofficially, a khaki dress was given to him from the Kamarhati Municipality.
