First Yugoslavian Volkswagen - TAS 1

Image
First Yugoslavian Volkswagen - TAS 1 On 10 November 1973, the first Yugoslavian "Buba" (Beetle) rolled off the line at Tvornica Automobila Sarajevo (TAS) in Vogošća - a northern suburb of Sarajevo - which today is located in the Sarajevo Canton of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Beetles were built in Yugoslavia from 1973 to 1976 on a CKD basis and a total of 31,667 examples were produced, comprising the 1200J (29,112), 1300J (525) and 1303J (2,030). The J suffix on the engine lid badges stood for Jugoslavija. When the civil war in the former Yugoslavia ended in 1998, the plant was re-established as Volkswagen Sarajevo.  Credit: Pete Frost  .  .  .  * Indian Roadie Recollections

Revving a cold engine can cause irreversible harm

Image
Revving an engine immediately after starting, especially when it’s cold, can cause undue stress on engine components. It’s best to let a car idle for a minute or two, allowing the oil to warm up and circulate properly, ensuring all parts are well lubricated before you hit the road.  Allow the engine to idle for a few minutes after starting, especially in cold weather, to let the oil circulate and reach optimal temperature.  Irrespective of how modern a car is, open the bonnet at every 3 - 4 days interval if not more frequently, pull out the dip stick and check the oil level and top up if necessary, ensuring proper lubrication during the warm-up phase.  .  .  .  * Indian Roadie Knowledge Hub
